Congratulations to Coach Casey Bald's Girls 2001 White team for their 2017 Bronze Central Championship title season. They had a nail-biter of a campaign, which included four 1-0 wins (plus two 1-0 forfeits) in their undefeated 12 game series. This was truly a balanced team effort, in that 9 players contributed to scoring the 22 actual goals (24 total with forfeits), while their defense successfully kept the ball out of the net during the entire season...zero goals against! Over 15 hours of soccer without surrendering a single goal, despite losing 3 players early in the season to ACL injuries, and having 2 key players out mid-season due to concussions. Additionally, Coach Casey states that 14 of his 20 players have 2002 birth dates, as he refused to break up his very close-knit team when Cal South adopted the USSF birth year change 2 seasons ago.
The G01 White team recently transferred to NHB from another club. Last year they finished 5th place in Bronze South, with a record of 4 wins, 3 losses, and 5 ties; 15 goals for and 10 goals against. Coach Casey attributes the intense progress and turnaround between the two seasons as simply continuing to work hard, putting in extra effort at semi-private and goalkeeper training sessions he made available during the summer, film nights, spring soccer, countless hours of additional time shooting on goal, and participating in three of the highest level soccer tournaments in Southern CA before league.
Coach Casey states, "This team's season is a very special one which will be cherished for a long time. The girls overcame some significant setbacks and rose to record a very rare event of an undefeated season, with no losses or ties, and with zero goals against. Those who participated and witnessed it will remember the raw emotions as each proceeding game endured increasing emotional pressure, because our very talented opponents were salivating in not only attempting to beat us, but trying every moment of the game to simply score against us. Our team as a whole became victorious in each of the games' 90 minute battles."
NHB congratulates the entire G01 White team in this remarkable accomplishment.
