The June Mitton Memorial Scholarship Award was voted on by the Board Members of NHB and they made a great choice in awarding it to Kristi Tanaka.

Kristi played for NHB for five years and was coached by her dad Sam Tanaka during her stay with the club. Besides losing Kristi, the club will also be without the services of Sam. We wish Sam the best wherever he coaches.

Kristi is both a fine soccer player and excellent student with a GPA of 3.4. She plans to attend UC Riverside where she will be majoring in Criminal Justice/Criminology. With that major she plans to become a FBI agent or Investigating District Attorney.

Besides playing soccer (which she will do at UC Riverside) she likes to ski and snowboard in the winter. She also enjoys volleyball and the beach where most of her friends hang out. In her words, she says "I'm just a normal teenager that spends a lot of time on the phone and watches TV."

George Mitton (in photo with Kristi) presents her with a check for $5,000 to help further her education.

Proceeds from the NHB Tournament contributes between $5,000-$10,000 each year towards the fund. So we would like to thank all the teams that attend our tournament in helping to keep The June Mitton Memorial Scholarship Award alive.
