NHB Black GU11 Flight 1 NHB Cup Champions!
NHB Black GU11 came to play!
Saturday morning NHB Black came to play posting two shutouts in the blistering heat, beating Fullerton Rangers 1-0 and Soc Cal Blues 2-0.
Sunday morning the girls seemed determined to advance and play for the Cup. NHB went up early 1-0 over Strikers OC when a free kick was awarded at the top of the box. With only five minutes to play Strikers scored the equalizer and only goal against NHB all weekend. Both teams played hard knowing it was all on the line but the whistle blew and a 1-1 tie put NHB Black in the finals.
Facing LA Galaxy Elite, their fourth and hardest game of the tournament NHB Black turned it up! The first half the Galaxy was relentless, hammering the back line but the girls stayed tough. Galaxy was awarded a PK and with an amazing save by the goal keeper, the game was still 0-0. Things started to change. NHB started moving the ball and taking chances. Both teams having opportunities but nothing scored. Still tied 0-0 at the end of regulation, the game went to over time. Like any good final, things were tense. The sidelines were cheering and the players were roaring. Both teams were charging but after the final whistle they were headed to PK’s. With little left in their tanks, the girls had to kick for the Cup. Like a champion, NHB’s goal keeper saved 3 more for the title. NHB Black GU11 with an emotional win bring home the cup. Congratulations NHB!
