GU16 FC - 2013 Cypress Cup Champions!
Congratulations to Coach Monica Gerardo and G16 FC girls for taking 1st Place honors at the 7th Annual Cypress Cup!
The team went undefeated throughout the tournament, before winning the Championship Game in PK's vs. ECNL Strikers FC last weekend.
During the preliminary matches on Saturday, NHB FC faced off against tough rival Cypress FC Gold, resulting in a 1-1 tie...followed by a shutout vs. Cypress FC Silver 3-0.
On Sunday, with a tie or win needed in Game 3 to advance to the finals, NHB FC stunned a talented Striker FC team 2-1, to advance to the Championship Round.
In the Finals, it was top-seeded NHB FC vs. Strikers FC once again. After a 0-0 tie at the end of regulation...it was off to PK's, where NHB FC prevailed in the end to capture the Championship title.
Coach Monica was quoted "This past weekend was a whirlwind and an amazing accomplishment for the team. They have put in a lot of hard work, learning a new system, while applying all of the concepts that we work on at each session. As we all know, it's much more rewarding when one is able to see their hard work pay off".
