NHB Futbol- North Huntington Beach Futbol Club

NHB Black GU9 participated in the 26th Annual OC Premier Mayors Cup this weekend. The first three matches of the two day tournament was a "SHUT OUT", and we won all 3 games, 6-0, 11-0, and 2-0. Sunday's Championship match was against Infinity and the entire match was a battle till the end. The girls were aggressive, first to the ball, and played their hearts out! As Coach Mike said at half time to his players, "It's not about strategy at this point of tournament, it's all about the heart and how bad you want to win it". The girls came out firing the 2nd half and continued to play some beautiful soccer. There was 4 1/2 minutes left to play in the match and the score was tied 1-1. With a few girls getting bumped and bruised, our girls had a penetrating pass through the opponents' midfield to the NHB striker who was taken down in the opponent's penalty box. NHB scored on the penalty kick and played strong defense the last few minutes to win the tournament final 2-1.

Coach Mike and Coach Dave are so proud of their players and that they played some aggressive soccer, especially in the heat. There is definitely more to come with this team and we ALL are very excited!
