Congratulation's to the GU9 team for winning 2nd place in the first round weekend of State Cup in Apple Valley! They did an awesome job in their bracket winning their two out of three matches. In match #1, they were defeated by the Eagles 1-0 but played aggressively throughout the game, dominated the first half and had plenty of shots on goal, but the Eagles had only one shot on goal and unfortunately made the winning goal in the second half, making for a painful loss. In match #2, NHB Black came out strong shutting out the Exiles Red 2-0 and boy were girls ready to play more! Their aggressive play, determination, and perseverance through the high winds in Apple Valley was awesome to witness. Match #3 of State Cup was on Sunday and NHB BLACK girls beat SD Surf Girls 02-03 Premier 2-1. The first half of the match was pure excitement with the girls coming out and scoring quickly 1-0. Then SD Surf scored off of a free kick due to our players blocking our goal keepers view during the kick to make it a 1-1 tie. Then right before the half, NHB Black scored another goal making the game in our favor 2-1. With the heat and light winds, NHB Black came out in the 2nd half ready to attack. They again dominated in their defense ability, attacked the ball, and it was evident that the girls were going to defeat SD Surf Girls, and they did. Final score 2-1. We are so proud of our girls and they will be ready for Round 32 of STATE CUP once again next weekend.
