Under gray skies, the NHB GU14 Black team started the early morning match strong against the G97 Condors leading 4-0 at the half. The only goal scored against the team came on an unlucky bounce, but never threatened the girl's lead, ending in a 6-1 win.

Second match of the day seemed to be more relaxing for the NHB girls where virtually every girl had an opportunity to score. Again, with hard work and a strong defensive presence, the NHB girls came out victorious with a clean sheet, winning impressively 10-0 over the Titans.

Sunday morning was another beautiful day at the beach. The girl's legs were showing a little fatigue going into the third match, but the team displayed their usual confidence. Elite 97 proved to be a tough opponent keeping the game tight and battling every minute. This more physical game pushed NHB to step it up and put yet another win on the board with a 3-2 victory.

Lastly, with a pool of 5, the final game came down to a tight race for points. True to NHB Black's nature, they continued to fight hard with another physical game. Never giving up, but unfortunately giving up a few late goals, the final game ended in a draw against the persistent Eclipse Blue 5-5.

NHB GU14 Black finally broke their 4-year "finalist" spell and became the 2011 Huntington Beach Sand Soccer Champions, going undefeated throughout the tournament! With 24 goals for and only 8 against, competing in unforgiving sand, and pushing themselves physically as well as mentally in the heat of the day, it proved to be a great tournament for the girls and the parents in good ol' HB.
