Dirk Petersen, center back for the Yavapai Roughriders in Prescott Arizona scored the lone goal of the game to win the 2008 NJCAA Div I National Championship. This is the second National Championship in a row for the sophmore who scored the goal by heading a coner kick into the back of the net. The Roughriders went undefeated this season with a 26-0-0 overall season record. Dirk played for NHB for 5 years and was a member of NHB's 2008 U-19 National Cup Finalist team that made it to the quarter-finals of the Far West Regionals.In Dirk's first National Championship match with the Roughriders, the game went into two overtime periods and finished with PK's. Dirk scored the game winning PK. NHB congratulates Dirk on his accomplishments.
