It is with great sadness we inform you that George passed away at 4:00 AM on Saturday March 15, 2008.

As you know George has been dealing with a number of health issues.  Following surgery on Friday afternoon, George experienced a post-operative cardiac arrest and was not able to recover.  His long time companion Karell and his brother Jerry were at his bedside when he died.  In addition to Karell and Jerry and his family, George is survived by his mother, Vera Strom, and his sister Beverly O’Connell and her family.

There will be a viewing on Tuesday, March 18, 2008 from 5:00 to 8:00 PM at WestminsterMemorial Park,

There will be no other public services.

Soccer has lost a true friend and champion of its youth program.  He will be missed by all who have been involved with youth soccer during the past many years, especially the NHBFC soccer family which he has fathered for 30 + years.

A George Mitton Memorial Scholarship Fund is being established to honor his memory.
