After an extremely successful Summer tournament season with a third place finish at the Cerritos Memorial Challenge and "Finalist" finishes at the Arsenal Cup, Irvine Summer Classic, and Fullerton Classic, NHB Black GU10 wins the Long Beach Sun and Surf. The Championship game didn't come easy. Leading 1-0 with seconds to go in regulation time, CUSC tied the game on a direct kick just outside of the box sending the match into over time. The 10 minutes of over time went scoreless leaving the match to be decided by penalty kicks. Refusing to settle for "Finalist" four straight tournaments in a row, NHB Black took care of business by calmly netting their shots and our goal keeper denying those of the opponent. With a tournament season record of 13 - 5 - 2 including 66 goals for and 13 goals against (3 losses / 9 goals were against either last years League Cup Finalist or State Cup Semi-finalists) the Championship win at Long Beach Sun and Surf was well deserved. Having a full roster for the first time this Summer at NHB Cup later this month, NHB Black GU10 is set on reaching the finals for the second straight year but this time they plan on keeping the Cup at home. The NHB Black GU10 family would like to thank Coach Mike Edwards, Assistant Coach Mike Koelsch, and Assistant Coach Leo Moreno for all their time and dedication training this team to be nothing but great.
